Welcome to a workshop on teaching and learning with Centre for the Advancement of University Teaching (CeUL). This is a workshop where the language of instruction is English.
Useful for: University teachers
What makes assessment innovative? What exactly does this look like in practice? And how could you innovate your own assessment practice? This 3-hour introductory workshop gives you the chance to:
- reflect on, define and discuss innovative assessment;
- become acquainted with successful examples of innovative assessment in Higher Education
- develop a plan for innovative assessment in your subject
Preparation before the workshop
- Think about what kind of assessment you implement in your own courses. What works? What could be improved?
- Read through the reference literature before the workshop.
- Create a Twitter account (it is free), if you do not already have one. Use a pseudonym if you do not want to share your personal details. We will use Twitter as a backchannel to the workshop. This will help us maintain a real-time conversation alongside presentations and group work, as well as share comments, notes, experiences during, and even after the workshop. All comments will be aggregated under the hashtag #ceuliahe so you can read through tweets at any time without having to follow anyone. Here is a guide to Twitter for academics
- You can participate in the Twitter backchannel with a mobile phone. It might, however, be more advantageous to have a laptop or tablet with you.
