Artificial intelligence (AI) is developing fast, and further advances are likely to have huge impact on society and our lives. The possible benefits are enormous, but so are the risks, and we need to identify these and to find ways to navigate the future in such a way as to reap the benefits while avoiding the worst risks. This requires AI ethics. I will outline some of the many aspects of AI ethics and argue that these perspectives need to permeate AI research as well as more broadly.
