Some remarks on two-way ANOVA with unbalanced data
In the case of balanced data, it is quite straightforward to conduct and interpret results of two-way analysis of variance (two-way ANOVA), especially using statistical software. Unfortunately, data collected in empirical studies are rarely balanced.
The purpose of this talk is to review two-way analysis of variance problems in the case of unbalanced data. We recall the definition of main effects and interactions based on certain restrictions, Type I–IV estimable functions, and issues concerning the testing of hypotheses.
