This includes giving lectures, teaching in seminars, marking exams, and administrative duties. The purpose of the departmental duties is to provide first-hand professional experience of university teaching and administration.

The discussion on departmental duties is renewed annually, and no later than the end of April. The content, and the extent of the departmental duties, are determined by the head teacher of the relevant subject area, the doctoral student and the principal supervisor. The planning of departmental duties is carried out by the head of the school or delegated to head teachers responsible for teaching in the different subject areas. The candidate’s principal supervisor should be informed of the outcome.
