The Faculty of Social Sciences

The faculty distinguishes itself in areas such as economics, sociology, psychology and anthropology. Active research is carried out at several research institutes, dedicated to areas of research such as migration, drug problems, aging and health, and health and equality. The social sciences use both quantitative and qualitative methods to create a solid foundation for an active debate about our society, as well as for decision making and planning.

Academic Writing for International Publication in English

This course has been designed to suit the needs of PhD students conducting research in the social sciences. The overarching aim is to improve the participants’ academic writing skills in English in order to facilitate publication output in international peer-reviewed journals. 

Research ethics – an overview of ethical conflicts

This course gives an overview of ethical conflicts that researchers need to be aware of and be prepared to handle in their work. It introduces some conceptual and theoretical tools from philosophical ethics, for example regarding the valuation of consequences of actions, regarding rights and duties, and ethical comportment. It also gives a short overview of relevant rules and regulations.
